Back in March 2020, we were on a walk around the neighborhood trying to make sense of all the news and information coming our way about a pandemic. We we entirely unsure of what the next few days and few weeks would bring, and we certainly had no idea we'd still be in the midst of a totally upended world nearly 2 years later. But it was on that walk that we decided we needed to do something to help people whose lives were really upended by the sudden change of just about everything in our normal lives. And that's when we created our Sudden Change of Plans Yeti with $10 of each candle sold going to Meals on Wheels.

Since then, we've supported five different local non-profits with four different Cause Candles. We're very proud to say that since March 2020, we've donated $11,500 across these organizations that directly benefit families in our community.

Our new Cause Candle is Radical Kindness.

Because while we cannot control what life throws at us, we can control how we react. And the world is tired. And folks are grumpy. So while we cannot change a lot of things in life, we can react with unrelenting kindness. There's a quote from Angela Santomero that says "Radical kindness means rooting all you say and do in kindness, being unconditionally kind all the time, to everyone. It means going beyond situational niceness or merely “doing the right thing” and, instead, living from a place of compassion." Our hope is every time you light this candle, it reminds you of this. Living from a place of compassion.

Radical Kindness is an herbal and floral blend that reminds us of a hug from our friend who always knows exactly what to say at exactly the right time. It has notes of green leaves and florals steeped with white and green tea. It's infused with essential oils of lemon, orange, and ginger.

Heart: green tea + ginger
Base: jasmin + white tea


We'll be making Radical Kindness through the summer. And $10 of each Radical Kindness sold will go directly to Next Door Milwaukee.

Next Door empowers central city children to dream of a bright future. Many of Milwaukee’s children face the same challenges of illiteracy, poverty, and segregation that their parents faced before them. Early education is a key factor in breaking this cycle. Next Door focuses on improving literacy and school readiness for children in Milwaukee’s central city. When combined with adult education and family support, their research-based programming helps children close the achievement gap and focus on a bright future.

Next Door serves nearly 1,400 children a year from birth to five years old through two center-based sites, a home visitation program and 11 partnership sites in Milwaukee County. They focus on getting children ready for school with academic and social-emotional learning, behavioral, disability and mental health support services and medical and dental care – all at no cost to the families.

In addition, Next Door provides family advocates to support parents with community resources in areas like housing, employment and food. Next Door also works with expectant mothers in a home-based prenatal services program.

Care instructions

Let's talk about basic candle care. These apply to all 100% soy candles, not just Yetis.

1. Trim your wick - Before every lighting, trim the wick of your candle to about 1/4'' for a clean beautiful burn. You can use a fancy wick trimmer, a pair of scissors, or even just your fingers (which is what we do 99% of the time).

2. Let it burn- Allow the wax of your candle to melt to the edge of the container every time to ensure a complete and even burn. This prevents tunnelling.

3. Never let a burning candle out of your sight. And don't burn it for more then 4 hours at a time.

4. Let it go- when only 1/4'' of wax remains in the jar, blow it out and clean it out with hot soapy water. Recycle it or repurpose the jar or tin.
